HISTORY'S CLOSET (2009)

Exhibited in Old Hawthorne Country Club, an historic 1890s home in Boone County, Missouri, History’s Closet highlighted the breadth and diversity of MHCTC holdings. As part of a fundraising gala event, the exhibition featured the Collection’s earliest garment – an 1828 silk gown, as well as a variety of 19th and 20th century artifacts, many of which can be viewed below. Textile and Apparel Management students enrolled in 19th and 20th Century Western Dress selected and researched favorite artifacts included in the exhibition and participated in the evening’s event by describing their artifacts and research to browsing guests.
