Funding for the Missouri Historic
Costume and Textile Collection

We appreciate donations of clothing that enhance the teaching mission of the Collection.  However, funds to properly care for the items we currently have is a more pressing issue.  There are four top funding priorities that concern the future of the Collection:

$100,000 endowment to fund a Graduate Student Assistant to manage the day-to-day operations of the Collection.

$125,000 for renovations of the Collection Research Center.

$10,000 to appraise the Collection and, once the appraisal is completed, to insure the Collection.  It is important that this collection be insured since it is a valuable resource for classes and community.

$2,000 yearly to support and care for the Collection.  This covers the cost of acid-free boxes, gloves, fabric for wrapping hangers and incidental supplies needed to maintain the Collection.

$1,000 to fund exhibitions and exhibition catalogs.  Exhibitions provide an outlet for faculty and student research and are an excellent means of public outreach.  Catalogs serve as permanent records of exhibitions and are used for public outreach and scholarly endeavors.
