Dr. Jung E. Ha-Brookshire is an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the Textile and Apparel Management Department. She received her Ph.D. in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies in 2007 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Prior to her Ph.D., Dr. Ha-Brookshire has worked as a production assistant, production coordinator, production manager, and sourcing manager for Adjmi Apparel Group and Richard Leeds International, Inc. located in New York City since 1997. During her time in NYC, she extensively traveled to various countries in Asia and Central America for textile and apparel product sourcing, product development, production coordination, and quality assurance. After 7 years of hard work in NYC, she realized that she wanted to spend more time on passing what she has learned onto other people who are interested in this fascinating industry. To do so, she came back to school to earn a degree and joined the TAM department in the Fall of 2007. Dr. Ha-Brookshire’s husband, Richard Brookshire, an IT manager at Microsoft, Corp., lives currently in Charlotte, NC and is looking forward to becoming a Missourian soon.

Research Interests:
Dr. Ha-Brookshire’s research interests originate from her professional work experience. While she was working in NYC, she had questioned why some companies perform better than others, how the textile and apparel industries are perceived by other community members, and how these external perceptions on the industries impact companies’ performance. Her dissertation research investigated these topics and she plans to develop this research stream further. The areas of her research include textiles/apparel firm strategies in today’s new market environment, firm/industry identity issues in the textiles and apparel industries, and corporate/consumer social responsibility practices in textiles and apparel market places.
