Dr. Dickerson is professor and chair of the Department
of Textile and Apparel Management. Her specialization areas include textiles,
apparel, and retailing industries with particular emphasis on global
trade and sourcing issues. For more than two decades, Dr. Dickerson has
met with industry leaders, policymakers, and other scholars at national
and international levels to gain insight into the global nature of the
textile and apparel industry. She has traveled in a number of countries
and has met in Geneva, Brussels, and Washington with policymakers on
global textile and apparel issues.
In 2006, Dr. Dickerson was chosen for the Distinguished Scholar Award by the International Textile and Apparel Association. She has also been selected by that group for the "Educator of the Year" award. Aditionally, she has served as the Association's president and has been named Fellow in that organization.
In 2002, Dr. Dickerson won the prestigious University of Missouri Distinguished
Faculty Award. The award emphasizes the faculty member's relationship
with students as well as sustained efforts in research and service.
One award is given by MU annually. She has received many awards for her
work including the MU Provost's Award for Leadership in International Education and Textile World's "Top 10 Leaders" Award.
She is the author of two seminal textbooks in the field of textiles and
apparel. These books have been translated into Korean and Arabic by publishers
in these regions. Along with these successful textbooks, Dr. Dickerson
has published more than 85 articles in academic and trade journals.
For 17 years, Dr. Dickerson served on the Board of Directors for the Kellwood Company,
a $2.5 billion Fortune-600 firm at its peak. She served as Chair
of the Board’s Corporate Governance Committee, as Presiding Director,
and on the Executive Committee as well as on the Audit Committee.
