The University of Missouri’s Department of Textile and Apparel Management (TAM) in the College of Arts and Science has earned accreditation from the Textile and Apparel Programs Accreditation Commission (TAPAC), the national accrediting organization for textile and apparel programs in higher education. The accreditation recognizes TAM’s commitment to academic excellence and graduate success in the global textile and apparel industry.

With the accreditation, TAM joins just 10 other accredited textile and apparel programs.

TAPAC accreditation recognizes programs that demonstrate excellence in curriculum, student learning outcomes, faculty expertise, industry engagement, and continuous improvement through a rigorous review of academic quality, assessment practices, strategic planning, and student achievement.

“Our successful accreditation reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and industry partners who continually strive for excellence,” said Jung Ha-Brookshire, professor and chair of the Department of Textile and Apparel Management. “The rigorous TAPAC review process affirmed the strength of our curriculum, our commitment to student success, and our culture of continuous improvement. We are honored to be recognized among a select group of accredited programs and remain committed to preparing innovative, responsible, and industry-ready graduates.”

Effective through 2033, the accreditation supports TAM’s continued investment in industry partnerships, experiential learning, and innovative educational opportunities that prepare graduates to lead in a rapidly evolving global marketplace.
